July & August 2015 Newsletter

Well did you miss July? As you can see I did, but what have you missed in June and July? Let’s start with Vacation Bible School. We had a great turn out, averaging 62 children each night with 16 adults and helpers. What a Blessing that week was. Then the youth had a 3 day VBS with 6 youth at each one, to include Sunday school that Sunday. We would like to thank everyone who helped and provided food for those events. I hope that you will come and join us for Sunday school and worship this month as we continue to learn more from God’s word.

Now here is what we can see going in right now:

-30 August Homecoming 170 years if my math is right come celebrate with us

-?? Sept. See you at the pole youth prayer rally

-?? movie night

Now for the pastor ‘s bite: July and August brings summer vacation to a close and we try to get back into a normal (what ever that is) routine. We know that with school comes studying and that is something that we all need to do. Paul writes to his young friend Timothy about that in 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. kjv. See this is something that we need to do everyday. Studying God’s word, so that we are ready to “divide it” which means to share it with others like you would bread and that is what Jesus is the “Bread of Life.” So as that “normal” routine comes back around make sure if God’s word is not already part of that routine then add it in, 5 minutes a day will make a world of difference in you. While you are getting that routine down don’t forget Sundays and I‘ll save you a seat.

June 2015 Newsletter

Is it June already? May went by so fast I can‘t remember what went on. Wait, yes I can we have been getting prepared for Vacation Bible School. We also had some good Sundays in May and we just finished our Sunday school book for the adults and the youth, so this would be a great time to come and join us in Sunday school as we begin new books. I will save you a seat so come and join us on Sunday as we study God’s word.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-15 June – 19 June Vacation Bible School 5:30pm – 8:00pm ages 4 and up
-30 August Homecoming

Now for the pastor’s bite. June means that school is out and Father’s Day is on the way. As we think about Father’s Day you will find that different people have different feelings about their Dads. As I think back about my dad a few things come to mind. My dad was a good dad even though he was one of those dads that you had work with him to spend time with him because he was always working around the place doing something. I can tell you that my dad loved me without a doubt because of the way that he treated and spoke to me. So with that being said can you imagine a better dad than that. What would a perfect dad be like? Here we read about a perfect Father, Mathew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (niv) not only do we read about a perfect heavenly Father but Jesus is telling us that we should be perfect like our Father. How do you do that? Well in that passage of scripture He tells us to love our enemy. Wow, is that all we need to do to be perfect? I believe if you will give it a try then you will find out why there has only been one perfect person to walk on the Earth and that was Jesus who died for all of our sins, so that we might have the gift of eternal life. So as Father’s Day comes up remember your dads and if your dad is still around then spend some time with them and maybe you can bring them to church and worship our perfect heavenly Father. I hope to see you on Sunday.

May 2015 Newsletter

What did you miss in April? Yes, April has come and gone and so has Easter as we celebrated the resurrection of our savior and we had a good turn out for the Sunrise service hope to see you next time. The Gideons came and told us a little about what they have going on and I would like to thank all of you who donated to them. Next month will be the half way mark of 2015 so how is your Bible reading going? Let me encourage you to keep it or maybe even start if you have not started. Don’t give up if you missed a day or so, just pick up where you left off. I know that sometimes things happen and you might forget or run out of time, but if you will make the effort I am sure that God will bless it. Come and join us on Sunday as we study His word.

Now here is what we can see going in right now:

-15 June -19 June Vacation Bible School starting around 5:30pm-8pm ages 4 and up

Now for the pastor ‘s bite: With May comes a day that most of us look forward to and no it is not the last day of school. It’s Mothers day which is 10 May this year. We all have memories of our Moms and when the time comes we will look back and wish that we had made more are different ones with them. I think of all the other mothers that had an influence in my life also, even some of those in the Bible. Proverbs Ch 31 talks about women and in verse 10 it starts to describe a good wife and it reads “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies” (niv). So if you have a good wife or mother or mother of your children you really have something that is worth more then we know or truly understand. Take time this month to tell that mom in your life how much they mean to you and remember that that don’t have to be your mom. So maybe you can bring them to church and worship the one who put them in your life, the God of the universe. I hope to see you on Sunday and I’ll save you a seat.

April 2015 Newsletter

Easter is here and what a wonderful time of the year as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What did you miss in March? The movie was great and thanks to all for their support and attendance. The youth had a good game night, hope that you don’t miss the next one and the Easter celebration was grand with enough eggs for everyone and even you if you missed it. I pray that you are continuing to read God’s word daily. Come join us as we learn more about God’s Holy Word and Worship Him each Sunday this is one way that we can have more of God in our lives.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-5 April 7am Easter sunrise service only service for Easter Sunday

-12 April 11am worship service with special guess from The Gideons.

Now for the pastor’s bite: This April is special because we will celebrate Easter. What a wonderful time it is. I really love what Easter means because we worship a risen savior and a living God. In Luke 24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (NIV) They found the tomb empty, no the body was not stolen, He had risen forever. What a reason to celebrate, Jesus is alive! Who is Jesus to you? For many of you He is your Lord and Savior having died on the cross for your sins and then rising again. Let me encourage all of you who have not asked Jesus to forgive you of your sin to do so today. There is no better way to celebrate Easter than to except what Jesus did for YOU on the cross. So come join us for Sunrise service and celebrate Easter with us. Have a Blessed April!

March 2015 Newsletter

Spring is on the way even if it’s freezing outside today, and things begin to get busy in spring. We just began a new book in Sunday school and I encourage you to come and join us. Think back on your child hood and many of us have fond memories of Sunday school, so why not encourage your kids and grandkids so that they can have those same type of memories. We put so many request on God but we have a hard time finding time for Him. Let me encourage you to come and join us as we learn more about God’s Holy Word and Worship Him each Sunday and make a time for God in our lives.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-8 March Day light savings begins spring forward 1 hour

-13 March 6:30 Movie “Summer Snow” invite a friend for movie and snacks, movie starts at 7pm

-?????children‘s Easter celebration with an egg hunt “coming soon”

Now for the pastor’s bite: In March many people will begin to garden and plant, all looking forward to a good harvest later on in the year. Think about all that goes into growing something. Soil has to be one of the first things if you want a good harvest. We try to get the weeds and rocks out, so the plant will have room to grow. Do you ever work on your soil in your heart so that God’s seed has room to grow in you? Hebrews 12:15 reminds us to 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. (NIV) We have other roots that spring up in our life that are not good, if we did not take care of the soil in the first place and with that root we can lead others astray from God’s good will. So as you start to notice the new things growing around you whether good plant or weed. Let’s not forget to look at what’s growing in our lives and weed out what might choke down God’s will. Come join us for Sunday school and church on Sunday and I’ll save you a seat. Have a growing March planted with God’s Love!

February 2015 Newsletter

Can you believe that it is the second month of 2015 already! It’s nice that the days are getting longer as we look to spring, but winter is not over yet. We had about 15 people go down to the March for Life in Baton Rouge as we stood for those that cannot speak for themselves. I just encourage you to show the love of Christ to anyone that you may know or meet that’s went or is going through that situation. Remember God loves them and so do we. Let me encourage you to come and join us as we learn more about God’s Holy Word and Worship Him each Sunday.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-13 March 6:30 Movie “Summer Snow” invite a friend for movie and snacks, movie starts at 7pm

-?????children‘s Easter celebration with an egg hunt “coming soon”

Now for the pastor’s bite: In February people look at Love, We look at earthly love mostly and buying a token of that love. Sometime that effort that we try to show comes up short but God never does. David reminds us in Psalms 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life (niv). When we are at a loss and cannot make sense out of what’s going on, we can always look to tomorrow and know that God’s Love is still there. I would like to remind you that if you feel as if no one loves you, God does and we at church would love to be able to show God’s Love to you. It is a new morning and God has a Blessing for you this month, you just have to notice it as a Blessing from Him. I hope that you are reading your Bible daily and that you will join us for Sunday school and church on Sunday and I’ll save you a seat. Have a great February filled with God’s Love!

January 2015 Newsletter

It is here, 2015 and what a great year it can be. The Christmas play was great as the children helped tell the story of Jesus’ birthday. An update about the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, we found out that they went to Togo in Africa, so keep those children in your prayers that received them. Also last month the children were able to reach out to a member who is in the nursing home so encourage them when you see them. My brother’s family along with the foster boy that we as a church adopted for Christmas are thankful to the love that you showed him. Thank you so much! Have you missed out on something let me encourage you to come and join us as we learn more about God’s good word and Worship Him each Sunday.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-2 January 2015 Youth lock in. They had a blast with 11 youth. Let those know who might fall into this class know that we have something for them.

-24 January 2015 “March for life” in Baton Rouge as we speak out for those who can’t.

-???? Movie “Summer Snow” coming soon

Now for the pastor’s bite: We have all year ahead of us and we make plans for all kind of things, but what do you have planned, to grow your faith in Jesus Christ. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians that as our faith grows so does our circle of influence for Christ grow. 2 Cor. 10 vs 15 Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our sphere of activity among you will greatly expand, 16 so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in someone else’s territory. (NIV) So as we begin 2015 I ask how do you plan on growing in Christ so that you may reach others for Him. The first message this year I reminded everyone that God wants to use you right where you are, for now, until He moves you. You need to grow in your faith so that He can use you more. One of the best ways that I can suggest for you to grow is by reading your Bible and praying daily and by coming to church for Sunday school. I’ll save you a seat for church since you will already be there for Sunday school. Happy New Year and have a Blessed January and 2015. I’ll see you on Sunday.

December Newsletter

Well Christmas is here and what a wonderful time it is. In November, we had a good time starting with the Movie night. Around 20 people showed up and the movie and popcorn was great, thanks to all that helped out.  The youth were quite busy this month with a yard sale (thanks to all that donated) in which they raised funds for YEC and other things like a food basket that they handed out for Thanksgiving. They had 4 youth go to YEC which they enjoyed, so if you know anyone 12 y/o and up to college age let them know that we have something going on for them. Also this month we packed 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and we can’t wait to see were in the world they go. If you missed out on something let me encourage you to come and join us as we continue to learn more about God’s good word and Worship Him each Sunday.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-21 December 2014 last day to bring gifts for the boy that (we the church family) are adopting for Christmas.

-21 December 2014 at 5pm we will be having our Christmas play/Celebration. Come join us.

-25 December 2014 Celebrate Jesus “Our Savior’s” Birthday

Now for the pastor’s bite: As we look at December I would like to remind you that Christmas is all about Jesus’ birthday. Yes, I know that the stores want you to spend money on your family and friends, which it is a good time to spend with those that you love. But an Angle of the Lord said in Luke 2:11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” ( NIV) Today some have not accepted Jesus as Savior. Yes, we know the story, we celebrate His birth, life and even death and resurrection but is He your Savior. Let that set in for a while, we celebrate His resurrection.  Let me encourage you share the gift of Jesus Christ our Savior with others this Christmas, which is the best gift anyone could receive after all it is Jesus’ birthday. Have a Blessed December and Christmas and I’ll save you a seat on Sunday. Merry Christmas!

November Newsletter

Well don’t look now but Christmas is next month. Time is truly flying here at church. We had a good time at the Fall festival, we did not have a bunch of children but all that came had a good time with food and games. The youth had a good time with the game night and are starting to plan a lock-in. I would like to thank everyone for the card and gift that was given to our family for pastor appreciation. Sunday school is going good hope that you will come and join us as we continue to learn more about God’s good word and Worship Him each Sunday.

Now here is what we can see going on right now

-7 November 2014- 6:30pm movie starts at 7pm. Movie night with snacks for all, featuring “God’s Not Dead”

-16 November 2014 we will be packing up shoe boxes for “Operation Christmas Child” during Sunday school

-23-24 November 2014 Youth Evangelism Conference “keep the youth in your prayers”

Now for the pastor’s bite: As we look at November I would like to tell all veterans thank you for your service, I do truly love this country that we were able to stand up for. At the same time I am more grateful for my Lord and Savior that I get to stand up for and let’s not for get to thank him as we celebrate Thanksgiving. Jesus at a time when some left him and others were grumbling spoke these words “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63 (NIV) as we have seen here in America, not everyone likes the words of the Bible “God’s Holy and True Words” but His words are true and the Spirit of God gives life, even after this body is gone back to the dust. I encourage you to come and learn more of His word as we start to look forward to celebrating His birthday. Have a Blessed November and I’ll save you a seat on Sunday.
